Fire Hoses (Class A)

Fire Hose Reels are designed for use on paper, wood fires. The advantage of Fire Hose Reels is that there is an unlimited amount of extinguishing agent (water) available.

If you wish to reduce the force of the jet, place a finger over to one side of the jet so that jet becomes a spray therefore reducing the force in which the water hits the fire and this will reduce spread the fire and reduce damage to the surrounding area. The fire hose reels are located at the rear of the printing plant only.

The Fire Hose Reel nozzles can be twist type, the same as a garden hose or lever type like a ball valve.

Fire Hose Reels must NOT be used on electrically charged fires, as the water is conductive and its use can result in an electric shock. Fire Hose Reels can be used if the electronic equipment is disconnected from the power supply.

Fire Hose Reels must be rewound correctly after us. Ensure that the hose is pressurised and the nozzle turned off. Maintain a constant tension on the hose as it is wound onto the drum and run the hose across the drum in a neat manner. Never cross over turns of hose as this can cause a jam when the hose is run out next time. Never allow the hose to fall over the top of the reel and jam behind the drum as the hose will never come off the reel until the tangle is sorted out.

It is policy in Bemis that Fire Hose Reels are for fire use only and are NOT to be used for any other purpose such as cleaning or obtaining water.
